Development of State Wildlife Action Plans spawned unprecedented cooperative efforts among state agencies and their partners across the country. To leverage these efforts, the Midwest, Western, Southeastern and Northeast regional Associations of Fish and Wildlife Agencies hired DJ Case to help conduct region-wide meetings to identify the collective priorities from the state Action Plans that would further fish and wildlife conservation in the regions. DJ Case planned and conducted all four regional workshops, including pre-meeting planning and scoping work, survey of strategy coordinators, facilitation of full group discussions and breakout groups, ranking of issues using a real-time electronic voting system, and writing a summary report. The workshops identified regional conservation projects, overlapping species and habitat needs, and research, mapping and monitoring issues that states agreed to make priorities in each region. Results are being used to guide cooperative conservation efforts among states in all four regions.
