North American Waterfowl Management Plan Revision

In 1986, Canada, Mexico and the United States adopted The North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP), launching a new era in wildlife conservation. A leading model for other international conservation plans, NAWMP is a living and evolving document and is updated periodically with engagement of the broad waterfowl conservation community. DJ Case has been heavily involved in the planning process virtually since the plan's conception and continues to work closely with the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service NAWMP Revision Steering Committee and the Canadian Wildlife Service to develop, test and implement a defined process for revising NAWMP goals to be consistently applied across North America.

As part of this process we designed and facilitated The Future of Waterfowl Management Workshop as well as multiple series of stakeholder input workshops in the United States and Canada for revision of the plan, including a mix of large group and facilitated breakout group processes. DJ Case analyzed data from across all workshops using SPSS statistical software. In conjunction with those workshops we supplied a collaborative online workspace to coordinate communications among team leaders, and launched NAWMPRevision.org to provide stakeholders with a single place to learn more about and register for workshops, review workshop results, and submit input.
