One size definitely does not fit all when it comes to Indiana deer hunting.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources contracted with DJ Case to document Indiana deer hunters' sentiments toward the importance of deer hunting in their lives; overall perceptions and satisfactions with Indiana deer numbers and the state's deer herd management; past involvement and current interest in deer hunting (including recent experiences); motivations for hunting; and selected hunter characteristics.
A four-page machine-scannable survey was mailed to archery, firearms, muzzleloader, lifetime, and youth license holders; almost 4,600 deer hunters responded. This comprehensive sampling scheme resulted in detailed descriptions of Indiana deer hunters - their motives, satisfactions, and regulatory expectations - by every possible combination of hunting method used, revealing striking differences and similarities among Indiana deer hunters uniquely grouped by hunting method.
